Just a few hours from Paris, Rennes or Nantes, the port city can be discovered by road, rail or ocean, and even seen from the sky! The citadel of Port-Louis, the ramparts of Hennebont or the Fort Bloqué of Ploemeur: so many thousand-year-old architectures which draw a land rich in its ancestors and proud of its battles. The submarine base of Keroman, now converted into a museum, remains a reflection of the military past of the city of Lorient. Although the military port is no longer there, the town formerly known as "the town of five ports" continues to develop its four other ports: the commercial port of Kergroise, the fishing port of Keroman, the passenger port which carries more than 450,000 passengers a year to the island of Groix, and the marinas spread over Lorient, Kernevel, Port-Louis, Gâvres and Guidel. The reputation of Lorient as a port city is well established!
